Refrigerant & Compressor Dehumidifiers
Robust and effective drying equipment
We have a fantastic refrigerant dehumidifier range available, featuring models from some of the best brands on the market. The range of sizes that we offer means that we have compressor dehumidifiers available for spaces of all sizes - from rooms in the home, to commercial spaces and large industrial areas like construction sites, warehouses and factories.
How Does a Refrigerant Dehumidifier Work?
Refrigerant dehumidifiers work using the natural process of condensation. They feature a compressor that pumps refrigerant gas through a set of metal coils to cool them. A fan draws air into the unit and passes it over the refrigerated coils. The coils cool the moisture in the air to below its dew point, causing it to condense into liquid. The moisture is collected in a water collection tank or fed out of the unit via a drain outlet. The dry air is passed through a warm condenser, which heats the air up, and back out into the space. This process continues over and over, lowering the relative humidity within the space.
Where To Use A Compressor Dehumidifier
Compressor dehumidifiers are efficient and cost-effective pieces of equipment. They are available in a range of different sizes and an array of different features. They work best in heated spaces and are less effective in colder spaces. As these units rely on condensation to extract moisture from the air, the refrigerated coils need to be the coldest thing in the room to condense the moisture. If the room is very cold, the moisture will condense on walls, surfaces and other objects as well, reducing the effectiveness of the dehumidifier.
Refrigerant dehumidifiers are ideal for the humid UK climate and they can be used in the home, as well as in commercial and industrial spaces, to dry rooms with condensation and damp problems, to dry rooms out following construction work, leaks and floods, and to manage humidity in spaces where high humidity could cause damage to equipment and materials, including museums and galleries, data centres, drying rooms, swimming pools, workshops, warehouses, factories, utility plants and more.
Refrigerant dehumidifiers are best used in spaces with average temperatures, and where the humidity requirement is above 40% RH – which is suitable for most applications.
The Advantages of Refrigerant Dehumidifiers
- Low energy consumption
- Low running costs
- Minimal maintenance required
- Easy installation
- Wide range of types and sizes available
The Disadvantages of Refrigerant Dehumidifiers
- Performance level varies depending on room conditions
- Low performance in cold conditions below 5°C
- Some models need the tank to be emptied regularly
We have a wide range of refrigerant dehumidifiers available to order online or over the phone. Our range includes both portable and static dehumidifiers, from some of the best brands in the industry – including Dantherm, Calorex, Aerial, Master, Dri-Eaz, Ebac, Woods and more.
